Listen. Once upon a time I was waking up three days a week and getting my butt down to the local gym. I’m an honest woman so I’m not going to pretend that I’ve ridden one of the shiny, glossy new Schwinn’s down at CycleBar in St. Charles. But, I will tell you I’m motivated to move by sleep schedule down an hour to resurrect the motivation (I know lies somewhere in the depths of my soul) to make it down to CycleBar in St. Charles. And, you know what?! The main motivating reason behind that isn’t necessarily because they have a brand new studio (that 1,000’s of serious athletes haven’t already put their sweaty mark on), or the fact that they’re conveniently located in St. Charles and a quick trip even for me who resides on the southwest side of Geneva. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s because of the people who stand behind the front counter. As well as the owner whose dream to make this CycleBar one of the biggest in the nation is evident in the care he takes in both the studio and staff. I’m a dreamer myself. I dream REALLY big and I go after those dreams regardless of the nay-sayers or the people who tell me I can’t be a mom and also a _______. I’m telling you the people over at CycleBar… everyone I met… they all wear their heart on their sleeve. And, at the end of the day, those are my people.
Alright, maybe I should write Hallmark cards?
I digress.
So let’s talk about CycleBar. It’s a beautiful studio that’s intentionally dark without the glow of monitors so you are immersed into an experience that takes your mind off the tasks of your day and focuses your mind on a heart pumping workout that combines both endurance and strength training. The reason it’s called CycleBar is because the bikes have holders on the front that are equipped with weighted four or six pound bars that you pick up at specific intervals in the workout to tone and strengthen your arms. The studio also have a community locker space where you can secure your belongings.
When you first walk in the door to CycleBar the first thing you’ll find is one of their friendly staff there to greet you and get you checked in. After which you’ll grab a pair of spin shoes that are made specifically for CycleBar training. The shoes is rather rigid and provide your feet and legs the support they need to get through the workout. They also have a rather fun merchandise section fitted with all the gear you’ll need to let the Fox Valley know you’re a community member at CycleBar.
