Did you know there’s a (not so) secret spot located right in the heart of Geneva that you may not know about? It’s a beautiful, secluded spot to stop in for a light lunch of charcuterie and a cool glass of wine on a hot summer day. But you must know about to even know it’s there! The Royal Wren is a brick-and-mortar store located at 11 S 3rd Steet but if you walk through the shop there is a quiet area outside with tables and chairs to rest your weary shopping feet or catch up with a friend. The shop is well known and beloved shop in Geneva, but you might not know about their outdoor spot! At the Royal Wren Jennifer and Tom, the owners, are all about making meals, making friends, and making memories.
At the Royal Wren you will find food to bring home to cook in your own kitchen as well as fresh charcuterie boards and other light snacks that are prepared for your convenience. They also have a beautiful selection of wines and spirits that you can enjoy while you are shopping or take home for you next gathering. In addition to food, they also have artwork, décor and gifts, kitchen accessories including napkins and towels and other things for around your home curated by Jennifer and Tom.
Jennifer and Tom can also accommodate your private event whether that be a birthday party, book club, garden group, business meeting or corporate event. Check their calendar as they are also known for hosting special events like wine tastings, spirit tastings, demonstrations, and party planning.
When I was there for my most recent visit, I picked up Italian pasta (because my kids will eat pasta every day if I let them) vodka sauce that tasted like an elevated macaroni and cheese sauce, kitchen towels that had the names of the cities in the Fox Valley and buffalo chicken dip mix that I paired with a gorgeous block of blue cheese from their refrigerator case. My timing was perfect as I had a holiday in which I need to spoil my husband so for him I picked up bourbon cherries, Manhattan mix and a bottle of Illinois Rye Whiskey. He loved it all!
